CURRICULUM RESOURCES

PROGRAMMING FROM A CATHOLIC PERSPECTIVE

The Fourth R Program has adapted curricula to offer a Catholic perspective, consistent with Catholic teaching and beliefs. Included in the document are scripture passages that support the learnings in each unit, as well as prayers that enable youth to ask for guidance or support from God. An abstinence-focus is provided for the Healthy Growth and Development units.

The following programming has been adapted to offer a Catholic perspective:

  • Grade 7 Health & Physical Education
  • Grade 8 Health & Physical Education
  • Grade 9/10 Health & Physical Education
  • Grade 10 English

Please advise if you wish to see an additional program adapted for a Catholic population.

TESTIMONIALS

“The Fourth R is a comprehensive program, using the theme of healthy youth relationships, to deliver important life lessons in areas of safety and injury prevention, healthy growth and sexuality, and substance use and abuse. It’s emphasis on role play, allowing students to practice decision making skills in life-like situations is a real strength. I would highly recommend this resource to any health & physical educator teaching in a secondary school in Ontario.”
Anthony Petitti, Program Coordinator, Toronto Catholic District School Board
